As-salāmu ʿalaykum, Beloved Ummah of Muhammad Rasool Allah sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam!
There is an ongoing humanitarian crisis and genocide in Gaza. The Palestinian people continue to endure unimaginable suffering, with their plight exacerbated by ongoing violence and attacks. After two years of continued violence in Gaza, over half a million people now face catastrophic levels of starvation and another 1 million people are facing emergency levels of hunger, according to the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC). One in every three people are going days at a time without eating, with adults regularly skipping meals to feed their children.
Gaza, a densely populated strip of land on the eastern coast of the Mediterranean Sea, has been a hotspot of suffering for decades. The situation has now become worse with Israel's bombings, war crimes, policies, military operations, and the blockade taking a severe toll on the lives and well-being of Palestinians in the region. A total of 1.9 million people—90% of Gaza's population—have now been forcibly displaced from their homes, most of them multiple times.
Gaza's health system has been steadily unraveling before our eyes, deteriorating with each passing year. According to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), 36% of primary healthcare centers and 50% of hospitals have completely shut down, with most of those remaining only partially functional. Doctors are overwhelmed, patients go untreated, and entire communities lack access to even the most basic medical care.
Muslims around the world must take it upon themselves to learn more about the situation in Gaza. Knowledge is a powerful tool, and understanding the history, politics, and human rights issues involved is crucial. The Quran reminds us in Surah Al-Imran, Verse 3: "You are the best community ever raised for humanity—you encourage good, forbid evil, and believe in Allah." Through this, we understand that Muslims must embrace justice and forbid that which causes injustice.
The narrative portrayed by mainstream media and certain Western politicians has often been skewed, overshadowing the harrowing reality faced by the innocent civilians in Gaza. The attacks on Gaza have resumed, with over 5,000 people killed since March 2025. Families are not only facing starvation and loss but also enduring ongoing violence. The need for emergency aid is critical. Here's how you can help in bringing light to the obscured plight of Palestinians:
