Amplifying the Cry for Justice

STAND FOR GAZA

As-salāmu ʿalaykum, Beloved Ummah of Muhammad Rasool Allah sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam!

There is an ongoing humanitarian crisis and genocide in Gaza. The Palestinian people continue to endure unimaginable suffering, with their plight exacerbated by ongoing violence and attacks. After two years of continued violence in Gaza, over half a million people now face catastrophic levels of starvation and another 1 million people are facing emergency levels of hunger, according to the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC). One in every three people are going days at a time without eating, with adults regularly skipping meals to feed their children.

Gaza, a densely populated strip of land on the eastern coast of the Mediterranean Sea, has been a hotspot of suffering for decades. The situation has now become worse with Israel's bombings, war crimes, policies, military operations, and the blockade taking a severe toll on the lives and well-being of Palestinians in the region. A total of 1.9 million people—90% of Gaza's population—have now been forcibly displaced from their homes, most of them multiple times.

Gaza's health system has been steadily unraveling before our eyes, deteriorating with each passing year. According to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), 36% of primary healthcare centers and 50% of hospitals have completely shut down, with most of those remaining only partially functional. Doctors are overwhelmed, patients go untreated, and entire communities lack access to even the most basic medical care.

Muslims around the world must take it upon themselves to learn more about the situation in Gaza. Knowledge is a powerful tool, and understanding the history, politics, and human rights issues involved is crucial. The Quran reminds us in Surah Al-Imran, Verse 3: "You are the best community ever raised for humanity—you encourage good, forbid evil, and believe in Allah." Through this, we understand that Muslims must embrace justice and forbid that which causes injustice.

The narrative portrayed by mainstream media and certain Western politicians has often been skewed, overshadowing the harrowing reality faced by the innocent civilians in Gaza. The attacks on Gaza have resumed, with over 5,000 people killed since March 2025. Families are not only facing starvation and loss but also enduring ongoing violence. The need for emergency aid is critical. Here's how you can help in bringing light to the obscured plight of Palestinians:

  1. Dissecting the Disparity:

    • Media Bias: : The narrative in many mainstream media outlets has shown a proclivity towards one-sided reporting, often neglecting or understating the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, and at times, justifying the aggressive actions under the guise of Israel's right to defense.
    • Political Agendas:: Western politicians' narrative often echoes this bias, with some blatantly disregarding the war crimes as alleged by all human rights organizations, thereby further fueling the cycle of violence and oppression.
  2. Educate Yourself and Others:

    • Understanding the Crisis:: After two years of continued violence in Gaza, over half a million people now face catastrophic levels of starvation and another 1 million people are facing emergency levels of hunger. One in every three people are going days at a time without eating, with adults regularly skipping meals to feed their children. The attacks on Gaza have resumed, with over 5,000 people killed since March 2025. A total of 1.9 million people—90% of Gaza's population—have been forcibly displaced from their homes, most multiple times. Gaza's health system has collapsed, with 36% of primary healthcare centers and 50% of hospitals completely shut down.
    • Deepen Your Understanding:: Delve into publications like "Light in Gaza: Writings Born of Fire" and engage with online conversations featuring contributors from Gaza. Explore articles, films, and resources detailing the life and struggles of the Palestinians under blockade. Listen to lectures from professors and authors like Norman Finkelstein.
  3. Raise Your Voice:

    • Social Media Activism: : Utilize platforms like TikTok, YouTube, Twitter(X), Facebook, and Instagram to disseminate information and express solidarity with the Palestinians. Engage in online campaigns promoting hashtags like #FreePalestine and #GazaUnderAttack to broaden the global awareness surrounding the crisis.
    • Engage with Lawmakers: : Urge your representatives to call for a free Palestine and to address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Advocacy can play a crucial role in influencing political discourse and actions on a national and international level.
  4. Support Humanitarian Efforts:

    • Donate Generously:: Numerous organizations are working tirelessly to provide aid to the affected individuals in Gaza. Your contributions can significantly assist in the provision of medical supplies, food, water, and shelter to the victims of the conflict. Support reputable organizations like MATW Project USA, Human Appeal USA, Islamic Relief USA (IRUSA), and UNRWA that are actively working in Gaza. According to IRUSA, your donations help provide life-saving aid from medical care to clean water to emergency shelter items. Human Appeal USA reports that families are not only facing starvation and loss but also enduring ongoing violence—your donation can provide mercy to Gaza today.
    • Volunteer: : Offer your time and skills to NGOs and initiatives focused on alleviating the sufferings of the Palestinians. Engage in fundraising events, awareness campaigns, or provide legal, medical, or educational support as per your capabilities.
  5. Foster Interfaith and Community Dialogue:

    • Prayers: : Organize and participate in prayers for peace and justice in Palestine and worldwide. Prayer, as a profound act of solidarity and empathy, transcends religious and cultural boundaries, uniting individuals in a collective plea for humanity
    • Community Discussions: : Facilitate discussions within your community to raise awareness about the crisis in Gaza and foster a deeper understanding of the humanitarian and political implications involved.
  6. Global Solidarity:

    • Support Palestinian Products: : By purchasing Palestinian goods, you contribute to sustaining the Palestinian economy, thereby indirectly assisting those affected by the conflict.
    • Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS): : Support the BDS movement aimed at promoting accountability and justice for the Palestinians through non-violent pressure on Israel. Boycott every company that supports and funds the Apartheid State of Israel directly or indirectly. Download the Boycat app and use it to scan and boycott israeli products and their funders.

The harrowing images emanating from Gaza are a stark reminder of the indomitable spirit of the Palestinians amidst insurmountable adversities. It beckons a global community to transcend geopolitical affiliations and uphold the sanctity of human life and dignity. As members of the global community, let us heed this call, extend our support, and tirelessly advocate for a world where peace, justice, and humanity prevail.

In a world inundated with divergent narratives, it's imperative to seek the truth, challenge the bias, and stand in solidarity with those oppressed. The struggle for justice in Palestine is not just a regional concern, but a global call for humanity, justice, and truth. Your action, no matter how small, can contribute to a larger wave of change, illuminating the path towards justice and peace in Palestine.
